Radio One have created a load of new idents and inserts (Woo, get me, down with da kidz!!!) in order to freshen up his image, and that of his show -

Now I fully appreciate that I am not in the demographic Radio One is looking to attract, but I have worked in radio, and I do have an above basic grasp of youth culture, so does anyone agree or disagree that trying to 'refresh' Nick Grimshaw as a 'personality' is comparable to putting glitter on a dog t***?

I think that is something of a sweeping, not to say inaccurate stamen.
I can say with conviction that I am well outside the demographic that Radio One seeks to attract, and therefore I am perfectly happy to accept that it does not appeal to me in the slightest.
That does not equate with me dismissing it completely as being 'cretinous' - clearly it is not.

The playlist is a joke (worse than local radio) and the PC stance of the BBC quashes any attempt to diversify the presentation formats which are staid and unadventurous. There's a piece in the afternoon where they pick out 'rude' things from the media and laugh about it like 4 year olds in a playground. It's contribution to furthering the music industry is laughable and its BBC introducing is simply a reactionary 'jump on the bandwaggon' vehicle to try and make them look cool. Jules Holland does a far better job.
