Have a look at Nigel's gravy recipe on here. (The first recipe on the page)

I might give that a go, or give the job to one of my visitors.;-)

I love Nigel Slater and much of his cooking but that recipe really does look like a mountain out of a molehill at a hectic and stressful time for many.

Suggestions for getting ahead with your sauce gravy would have been better IMHO.

That's why I'd delegate it, Eccles. Does it really need onions and shallots?
If I had both to hand then I'd go for it, if not with whatever I have. A recipe is a guideline, not a rule of law.

Thank you.
You're welcome. It looks a lovely recipe, hope it meets your expectations.
It looks really nice.
Question Author
It does, Ummmm. Better that Bisto Turkey Gravy. :-)
Oh I could knock that up in a heartbeat..... ;-)
Question Author
Yes. Gness, you could. No oven needed.

I also like the look of the 'parsnip mash and roast brussels with honey'.
Best thing about gravy is ....you can make it in advance, freeze and then no frantic stirring while trying to dish up everything else !
I'll probably be having over cooked food. FIL views any veg with a bit of bite as raw. I don't care though...all I do is the dishes (some of the dishes, they have a dish washer)
I can't make gravy, I'll buy some from Waitrose :)
I'd make it ahead of time...and anything with onions and shallots gets my vote.
Parsnip mash/puree is to die for...that reminds me that I've not made it in a while.
Question Author
Is it worth a try then, Pasta?

We are going out on Christmas Day so none of these will be needed but there's always the days between Christmas and New Year. Perhaps on New Year's Day, itself, I will push the boat out.
Hey, Sherr!!!! You've come back for a gravy thread????...Nice to see you though....x
Question Author
Tonyav won't be joining this thread. ;-)
Question Author
Welcome back, Sherr. I didn't see you there. Well spotted, Gness.
I popped on here as a diversion from watching depressing Eastenders.
