26d: What's causing stoppage in play? Batting in a bit of sunlight needed (5). I have rain*. It must be "rainy", but this doesn't really fit the definition, as that seems to require a noun, rather than an adjective. Any help, please?

Yes- IN in RAY.
It's RAINY and that's what's causing the stoppage
in(batting) inside ray(bit of sunshine)
ra in y (the word 'in' inside 'ray')
Why are you shouting FF?

Yes - thank you all. That's what I'd worked out, but the solution still seems to be the wrong part of speech, as "what" surely requires a noun as the answer. Maybe I'm being pedantic, but Azed normally is, as well......
It is clumsy I agree.
