Need Something That Covers Knickers

my 4 year old has been at school since last september. She quickly stopped wearing socks and started wearing tights citing she "didnt want anyone to see my knickers". Now its going to be coming up to the time she cant really wear tights as it will be too hot, but shes still worried about the knickers thing. anyone have any suggestions? she does not want to wear trousers or culottes or shorts

long skirts was my first thought, but do kids still tuck skirts into knickers anyway when they're on the swings and roundabouts?

Does she have any suggestions herself? It does seem she's ruled out most of the options.

Myown recollection of childhood is that kids don't much feel the hot or cold, if that's any help.

You used to get knee-length knickers, maybe they would be acceptable (not if she has any taste).

The only other option is leggings.

I would be asking her how she wants to deal with it....also....and excuse me.....but are you happy that there is nothing worrying behind her need to hide her knickers?

I did wonder about that, woofgang. My guess is it's no more than little boys saying "I can see your knickers!" But it's worth asking her.

im pretty sure there is nothing sinister about it. Her solution is tights, but they wont do with the summer dresses

she has a four year olds physique. it means she has a pot-belly and she doesnt like things sitting on it and prefers dresses to skirts or trousers. a bit ike men of a certain age who do their trousers up underneath their tummy She's not fat, and is in the normal range for BMI etc it's just her physique - she hasn't stretched yet :)

I'd go for short shorts (or big pants) on top, like female tennis players wear under their skirts.

do they make a youngster's skort as female golfers often wear? Just a thought......

I think they do make skorts for young ones, but they do tend to de on the short side.

I'd gp for a knicker similar to the old gym knicker - in a shade to match the dress.

Leggings is the answer I think, loads of different colours and patterns available in all shops, supermarkets, m&s. They look very nice worn under a summer dress, if a bit hot.

She doesn't want to wear shorts but little Lycra short shorts work well under dresses.
