Just went online to register my Nectar Card and found the questions quite intrusive. How may people in your household, how many cars, have you got a garden etc. They ask for your email and mobile number so they pass these on to other companies but say you can opt out at any time. What a waste of time as they will by that time know everything about you. I only have a Nectar card as I used to work close to a Sainsburys store but have not shopped there for over five years since I retired. Don't shop at Argos, M&S, Boots or any of the coffee/pizza stores listed so thought anything I earned in vouchers I could pass on to my daughter as she does go to M&S but won't be bothering now. Used to enjoy getting vouchers before and also getting one of our Christmas turkeys free but thats all gone now. I think the Daily Mail has shot itself in the foot on this one. Only buy it for the puzzle pages. Might have to ask my corner shop if anyone wants to give up just the puzzle pages each day. Anyone else happy with the change?
I agree wholeheartedly....just got what will be my last turkey token from them. Having said that, if people boycott it they may change their minds.....they did when they decided that the only way to enter the crossword answers was by phone....that was changed to be both postal and phone entries.....fingers crossed
Shop at Sainsbury's maybe two or three times a year ... never had a Nectar card but this happens at other supermarkets too. We and our details are very lucrative. As soon as a site is too nosey , I'm off.
I've opted out of the Electoral Register as well .... my details are NOT for sale !
Have just redeemed my points for a Tesco £5 voucher, and will not be registering for a Nectar card, as absolutely no use to me. Wouldn't give them such intrusive information, and I'm sure we're not the only ones who feel this way - Daily Mail will have to think again if enough of us vote with our feet.
I've done just the same and got vouchers with the points I had. Got about 300 points left which won't get used now. Pity I can't transfer them onto someone else's account.
Vouchers and points from Sainsburys are now only redeemable when used with the Nectar card belonging to the person they were issued to.I found this out because my husband and I have differently numbered cards so I always get him to use my card when he shops there because otherwise the points are awarded to his card number, same when redeeming a reward or a voucher it has to be done with the cards' number which is printed on the top of the voucher. This was because some people threw the vouchers in the bin and other people rummaged in he bin and picked them out and were using them.
Be prepared to be inundated with junk mail, junk emails, cold callers, junk texts etc etc .... the government should act on this, it is unwanted intrusion!!
I won't be inundated with anything as I refused to sign up. They are not giving you anything. They make money from selling lists of customers and their details onto other companies. Have been in for a few competitions online where I have to enter a code number inside the wrapping of something I have bought. Most of those are the same. They want to know the inside and out of your personal life. I just leave the site at that point and don't complete the entry. Not likely to win anything but won't join in their annoying games.
