What's the connection? Well, as many of you will know, Reg Gutteridge was the famous ITV boxing commentator. Back in the 1980's he was attending a boxing themed dinner in America and was sat between Ken Norton and Joe Frazier. Ken Norton said to Reg that there hadn't been a British heavyweight champion this century because "you British aint tough enough", whereupon Reg Gutteridge took his fork off the table and said "Is that so? " and he rammed the fork into his thigh, to the horror of Norton and Frazier. "Is that tough enough for you?", he said. But what they didn't know was that Reg had a wooden leg as he'd had it amputated after being wounded during a WW2 air raid whilst serving in the RAF. I think he would have loved the Invictus Games and I'm sure he would have contributed in some way if he could have done. Good luck to everyone who is taking part.

///It related to a dinner at which Gutteridge was seated next to the great man. 'You think you're hard,' said the Londoner, 'but are you as hard as this?'
Whereupon he stuck a fork into his left leg. Ali screamed with shock, as did all the victims of that party piece and the famous Gutteridge sense of humour.///

Great response indeed, would have shocked me ;o)

Sounds like he was a bit of a Joker;

///However, the incident provided him with the opportunity for some entertainment: for instance, during one holiday in Italy, he went to the beach at San Remo. He went for a swim and hopped out on one leg shouting "Shark, shark!", having hidden his prosthetic limb under a towel///
