I learned this poem at school about 1954 I cannot find out who it was by, though I remember it so vividly the rest of the poem went: they were brown and bare and deeply veined and the moons of her nails were purple stained.. wherever a foot dragged slowly by.. a leaf crept in the print to die.. Can anyone please help me?
