NB - I know how to pronounce it

I'm just curious abous the 2 different ways - Jen you inn - and - jen you eye-n

i googled but obviously its a bit hard to type this in and get a useful answer

i thought it may be american but it doesnt seem to be really

so anyone know where it comes from? is it just an accent thing? if so, which ones?

i keep 'imagining' it used more in reference to an item that is genuine, such as an antique, and also in a kind of deep south american accent.

thanks

thanks

'Jen you in' for me.

The other one does sound American.
Republican accent.
Jen u in for me.
Jen you inn - in normal speech but jen you eye-n if I'm being sarcastic; "Is that made from genuine plastic?"
Something, or someone, described as "jen-u-ine" suggest to me that it isn't.
'in' for me.

A lady one tried to sell me some ' gen u eye n' man made leather shoes??

My wry smile may have given me away.
Perhaps people are confusing the word with the American singer Ginuwine.

(Check out his song Pony)
Obviously the first. The second has always seemed to me to be a corruption in an effort to stress the quality.
//...in an effort to stress the quality.//

As in gen-yew-ine snake oil.
