Can anyone give me some hints for these last 5 questions please ,I have a couple of answers but not convinced.
20 Put your foot in it -a query surrounds the vessel(6)
44 Mother ,unhappy about article in newspaper(8)
55 Soldier at end of sortie had the right to bring back the spoils(9)
67Constellation could be seen from the most recent capitals(4)
99 We act abnormally in tin ship 94 3 )
Thanks for any hints.
44. And include the definite article
67. Google a list of constellations with four letters and then look back over previous questions as to where you would find capitals.
55. Lowest rank of soldier
44 I get Ellie's answer and can parse it and think it is correct, however
Short word for mother, + a 4 letter word meaning unhappy in certain circumstances anagrammed, all inside the usual 2 letter crossword abbreviation for a newspaper = part of a sailing ship The reason why I think Ellie's answer is correct is that my alternative has no need for the word "article"
I disagree jj109 - I don't know what your four letter word for unhappy is but mine is the usual 3 letter word, written around 'article' and starting with the mother. Every part of these questions has to count.
I agree with you Elliemay! I originally had a good alternative answer that I was not totally happy with because it did not include "article", which appeared to be superfluous to the clue. When I saw your answer, I preferred your solution
RAZ1981 - when you have the 2 letter chemical symbol for tin, you then "anagram" with the first two words of clue to find the answer. I didn't know it's meaning until I used my chambers dictionary
I don't have Chambers and the online search doesn't give a definition for what I THINK the answer is to 99! I pencilled it in very early on and can't see another anagram that works, so I'm going with it!
44. Mother, unhappy about article in newspaper.
I've read the clues given but "what is the usual crossword abbreviation
for a newspaper" as jj109 mentions
Re 44. Thank you Mamyalynne but what is "Article" referring to. Is it a letter(s) or a thing. I see "article" referred to in Rainbow Quizzes quite often but have never found out what it refers to.
