Why is the security status on a Uk mitltary base called the 'Bikini Alert'?

I don't really know for certain, but my educated (hah!) guess would be that's it's a reference to the Bikini Atoll where the H-bomb tests were famously carried out in the 1950s.

The Bikini Alert is given in the format of Bikini [for alert] followed by status. As an ACF & OTC cadet almost all the bases I went on were at Bikini - Black Alpha, which I believe is a stafe status.
