Notwithstanding the sensible Disclaimer to in this topic, it can be comforting (or not!) to get further help from cyberspace.


I have today been diagnosed as probably having suffered a mini-stroke. Although I sought post-stroke advice from my doctor I also then sought more info via Google - most of the hits were "selling" something or other, either a service or a cure. This is contemptible IMHO. Thank goodness for the NHS site.

The internet is full of people trying to get our money by dubious methods, I feel for those desperate enough to be taken advantage of.

Sorry to hear you've have a mini stroke - I've had two of those (that I know of) in the last few years and have made what I consider to be a full recovery.
Hopefully it will be the same for you.
It's deplorable that unscrupulous businesses are willing to prey on the fear and upset of people who have serious health conditions.
As you rightly say, the NHS site is reliable and reassuring.

My mum had a couple of tias and recovered completely, also did not go on to have the real deal. Take care and do not google, the work of the devil as far as medical matters are concerned.

I'm in full agreement with you re Snake Oil salesmen. I use Facebook and there are adverts recommending this and that cures for all kinds of illnesses, even cancer. If these "miracle cures" were any good why doesn't the medical profession use them. Kepp well Canary and stay safe.
