Following on from the handsome man/beautiful woman thread, more light-hearted musings on famous people.
You're invited to dine with your idea of a perfect dinner partner. Who is it?
David Niven for me. I would love to have spent an evening dining with him. Suave, well-mannered, educated, witty and good looking. The epitome of the perfect English gentleman. Just my type. ;o)

Which is odd because the taste wasn't affected, he was just showing he knew how to mess with people's minds. Apart from some cheese and blueberries we're just not programmed to eat blue.
I was only reading the other day about the sad death of Niven's first wife.
I think it would have to be Daniel Craig (although he would probably have to be in character as James Bond). That twinkle in his eye....
Talking of which, some years ago I was lucky enough to regularly dine with a gentleman who was even older than my grandfather but was a colleague and good friend. He was the epitome of absolute charm. He would rise if I went to the loo, he would always walk on the outside of the pavement, he would insist on hailing a cab, he was always impeccably dressed and he was a witty and charming raconteur and a terrible flirt. I do not think anyone (famous or otherwise) could ever exceed the fabulous evenings I spent with my old friend and I always parted from him feeling like I had had the most wonderful evening.
