Hi there
I am working on an open university degree I had a deadline for an assignment today at noon. I was writing an essay last night when I opened another document from OU website in Word and when I closed it I had a headache and at the side there was something about recovering a document or autosave. I just said no. Low and behold I can't find this document I was working on. I never saved it as I was going along and I never named it. I'm going to a meeting tonight and one of the members said bring my laptop along and they will see if they can restore it by version history. Do you think this might be possible? With no named file. I emailed my tutor late last night asking for an extension

Go to File / Manage Document in Microsoft Word and select the File tab.
First select "Document Management," then choose "Recover Unsaved Documents."
You will see a list of all unfinished Word documents in the new window. Click Open after selecting the files you want to see.
Word will now launch the root Office software folder's Unsaved Files folder. Double-click your unfinished document if it appears on the list.
Now that your document is ready, save it to prevent a repeat of the current circumstance. To achieve this, pick a location to store the file by clicking the "Save As" option.

If you've lost an unnamed unsaved document in Word, follow these steps to recover it: Open Word and go to the "File" tab. Click on "Info" and select "Manage Document." Choose "Recover Unsaved Documents" from the drop-down menu. Locate and open the unsaved document. Save the document immediately with a proper name and location. This process helps you retrieve and secure your work, preventing further loss.
