Public Satisfaction With Nhs At Lowest Ever Level, Survey Shows
The main complaints appear to centre around hospital services but in my experience GP services are far worse. Unless you turn up at A&E and clog up an already over-burdened department even more, you need to speak to a GP to be referred to hospital - and that in itself is a major hurdle. The hospitals don't seem to me to be doing such a bad job, but the GP services are utterly abysmal. Would you concur with the people who were surveyed - or is your experience different?

However, about 15 months ago my husband had to go to A and E and his treatment was awful. He then had an operation and his treatment at the local hospital was so unsatisfactory we made a complaint.
I'm less that satisfied with it. Was about 80 mins on the line yesterday before I got through to my doctor's surgery. They not only had passed my renew prescription request to a doctor who wasn't in that day, despite telling me they now had passed it as 'urgent' to another and it'd be done lateŕ that day, Patient Access (which I've also had problems with) is still telling me that a doctor will get around to it soon. Ruddy farce.
Yes, the covid nonsence made out we had to 'save' the 'wonderful' NHS when it shouldhave been the other way round.
Both hospitals and GP's are the problem I'm afraid and unless we stop this rediculous praise and adulation to the greatGos NHS nothing will change. Problem is the political classes uses it as a political football and any attempt to drag it into the 21st C is met with lies accusations and derision.
But if it doesnt change soon we will have a private system - and nothing else.
My doctors system is pretty good or appears to be, I've used it now twice in the last 3years. You fill in an online simple appointment form just giving a few details of the reason for wanting the appointment. I've had a reply the next day. First time i waited 3 days, second time 2 weeks. I believe the 2 week wait was because it related to the first appointment and was none urgent.
It infuriates me to see the junior Dr's standing outside our local hospital waving their stupid placards about laughing and joking, while hundreds of people who have been desperately waiting for their appointments to arrive have the appointment cancelled. They ought to be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
my experience is very different. I have no complaints about either GP or hospital.
as an example, i have an appointment every week with the practice nurse - if i have something that needs a doctor she just gets them to come in at the same time. I recently had a consultant appt at the local community hospital, needed xrays and a scan which i got the same day, they called me the same day with the plan going forwards, then about 2 weeks later i had a call from the main hospital asking me if i could come in for the recommended procedure that afternoon. I couldn't, so they sent me an alternative appt for about 3 weeks time

They ought to be ashamed of themselves? So should this government for not sorting this mess out.
Mr Hunt has said that 100k is not a huge wage for London, so why does he expect doctors and nurses to work many hours a shift for around 40k/60k and live in London with high rents and house prices?
It will all be fixed? No it wont, the damage is near on unfixable.
But if the present government think that throwing money at a new telephone system for surgeries is going to help any then it just shows how incapable they really are in coming up with a solution to improve the service.
Get a quick result of your problem at the doctors is pretty pointless if theirs no where to send you for treament. Half broken is fully broken when it comes to the whole NHS system.
