Not successfully thank goodness.

Daughter and her partner being driven back from day trip to a wildlife park. Already dark...suddenly a rock shatters the window on my daughter's side. Glass everywhere. The driver didn't stop...a good thing as it's assumed robbery at gunpoint would have occurred if he had.

Daughter shaken, but otherwise OK. They stopped at a petrol station...they were asked if they were OK. Another man said his wife had been robbed earlier on the same stretch of road.

I'd been doing the worried mum bit because her phone was off...apparently stuffed down her bra. A recommended measure apparently.

I need a drink now...

That is horrific Pasta - so glad that she/they are safe x

Gosh, certainlly a worry. Glad it worked out OK though.

That must have been terrifying for them, Pasta.  Glad they are OK. x

Cape Town is a lovely place but very dangerous unfortunately.  Glad they were alright

I'm glad they're safe, but it must have been a frightening experience.

Nasty. Thank goodness it all ended ok.

A friend of mine goes to Cape Town twice a year on business. She stays with a local and is escorted everywhere. A shame, she says it is a beautiful place.

Glad all is well, pasta. Horrible thing to happen

pasta, is your daughter on holiday or does she live there?

Elliemay - pasta posted previously that her daughter was going on holiday there

Thank you Toorak, I didn't see that

Thanks for the good wishes. When she told me they were going, she joked that she expected me to send her the current Foreign Office guidelines. I restrained myself..

Yes...she says it's stunning and the people are wonderful. It looks like a South African version of Rio.

Barry...as I mentioned, they were being driven. An inexperienced visitor might automatically stop. Thankfully the driver kept his wits.

I've been forwarding glorious photos to my brother and SIL...now I'm worrying about telling them...or not.

I wouldn't tell them just now - they would just worry. Tell them later when all risk is no longer there.

Good suggestion Toorak. Last email from my brother, he was praising them for being able to be adventurous and see the world. I don't want to upset him.

I know she was driven, Pasta, I read up your post. I was just saying my friend is escorted everywhere whilst she is there, whatever she is doing - shopping, sightseeing, every time she goes out.

I know Barry...I was just repeating myself 😂😉

Glad your daughter & partner are OK, Pasta. We never stop worry about our children do we?

A frightening experience for them & I'm glad that they & you are ok, Pasta x

Beyond frightening I'm sure, I am also pleased that they and yourself are ok Xx

Horrible experience and I am glad it didnt get worse.
