Tomorrow's the start of Lent but it has faded into insignificance when compared with the austere regime of Ramadan the followers of Islam undergo.

Lent has not faded into insignificance at all - I will disagree with you there.

I will be having pancakes - but I don't follow lent unlike over half my work colleagues

Don't eat them myslef but rest of family will.  The followers of Islam usually change day for night so don't actually starve themselves for the month.  They do get irritable though.

I used to enjoy them with sugar & lemon but not made any since I started cooking for myself. Bit of a faff doing all the mixing etc just for one portion.

Yes, I have a pack of six ready made ones which are a very acceptable substitute for home made ones. 30 seconds in the microwave, some lemon juice and a bit of sugar, perfect.

They sell them in lots of supermarkets, I got mine in Sainsbury's. Might be something for you to try davebro.

I forgot it was pancake day. I've got lemons and maple syrup...no pancakes though.

Morning. Still having showers here though some sun. Main carnival day today so weather is the usual! Its a semi holiday, no school or public services and employers can decide if their employees can come to work or not.

We are not because I forgot and have something else planned.  However, we do regularly have crepes suzette as a pud some nights.

Yes...inside maple syrup and vanilla kvarg. (I blame Waitrose for the latter!)
