The main reason I have the user-name I do is the fact that, at one time, I was running three different weekly quizzes in three different pubs in the area. Consequently, you do not need to tell me that quiz-compilers can make mistakes!
I think 'anguish' over the question is perhaps putting it too strongly as the only part of the quiz I ever saw was the Samaritan question as posted here, so nothing was 'spoilt' for me as a result. I just wanted to know where the answer came from, simple as that.
As an oldster, the 'Bible' as far as I am concerned is the King James' Version. There are, however, lots of other more modern translations. I thought it was possible that one of those might have contained information not in the 'original'.
It seems, however, that what we had was just a standard compiler's error...I'm referring to the one who produced the book you consulted rather than you, yourself!
Good luck with the fund-raising and all power to your elbow in future quiz-setting, ma'am! Just don't take it to heart when someone quibbles over an answer. My pub-rule always was: "My answer is right as far as the quiz tonight here is concerned...end of story!"
