When writing for a job how should I address a letter?

How would I translate to Spanish Dear Mr or Dear Sir?

I agree with rd14962 that the informal style is now more common, as in English. If you are writing to someone who would be impressed with the formal style, you might wish to consider the equivalent of Dear Sir:

Opening: Muy Senor Mio

Closing: Le saluda atentamente

To address a letter formally in English when applying for a job, you should use the persons name if you have it. when you have the persons name you finish the letter with 'Yours sincerely'. eg.

Dear Mr Smith

Yours Sincerely

However, if you do not know the person's name, you should address the letter Dear Sir. When you use sir or Madam or Sir/Madam, you should finish the letter with 'Yours Faithfully'.

I don't know why this is the case, its what I was taught at school in secretarial studies and also at college, and I think it looks correct.
