Damn Yanks?

And they got the lion's share of the internet. So we follow their lead, again. Yeah, Yanks; they flee our country, invade another's then tell them we talk funny. Sheesh. I really believe they have a 'Just to be Awkward language twisting Committee' Where members sit and discuss what they can do to alter stuff in order to grasp some self identity. Of course they changed colour to color, grey to gray etc Took a couple of letters out of aluminium, decided to pronounce some words differently, schedule, controversy etc and mom instead of mum pop instead of dad but that's not all; British tie wearing types will almost always have a stripe that goes backslash direction or is it slash? Anyway, almost All yanks as a defiance have Their tie stripes the Other direction! Check it out on movies etc sometime or ask Google. What other shenanigans do they get up to in order to shape an identity? Just trying to see if I can discover anymore on this subject. :-) And no racist remarks about this either, if you don't mind (Tj) It's not a racist issue it's Brobdignagian! ; bigenders and littIe-enders. Incidentally, did you know, over 80% of Americans are circumcised! Is this for 'hygiene' - as they say? Or just another way they forge their identity? Cor, insecure or what?

They changed what football means and scoff at anyone that prefers 'soccer', saying it's a sport for fags and foreigners (I've actually heard that said).
The circumcision thing is routinely done at birth, you have to request that your male child not have it or they will do it as a matter of course in some hospitals. And I have noticed that half the people here are female so xyzzy, I think you have your figures wrong there :) It's more like 50% of males anyway.
Despite being a blue-blooded Englishman, I have always had a soft spot for out trans-Atlantic brethren. Yes they are typically observed as crass, arrogant, imperialistic, contrary and desperate to create a national identity but one really has to look at ourselves and say - are we really any different?
I think what irks us most is that we booted these people out of our country years ago and now they are better than us.
We, the English, have a rather overblown opinion of ourselves ' we seem continually amazed that we are not the best in the world at everything when we live in a teeny, expensive country, lacking in natural resources, suffer cr*p weather and continually knock anyone who is even marginally successful instead of celebrating them (see gutter press for examples).
There is a great deal to be learned from Americans, yes they have their moments of idiocy but don't we all? They are obviously doing something right.
I personally applaud the USA and it's achievements, without the slightest feelings of insecurity - I am an Englishman and proud but I know and accept with good grace where England, as a nation, stands.
