not wanting to offend anyones sensibilities on the sacred gruel but in canada porridge is called mush by many.
Mush = mouth, I think
yeah i'd say mush too, i'm from Yorkshire if that helps
Mush is also a slang term used by travellers for man.
I come from Southampton,Hampshire and Mush is a term used for a person, "wotcha mush" was and I think, still is frequently used to say hello to someone you know.
or a squidgy mess

Seems unfortunate that "wotcha" is derived from the elegant enquiry "What cheer be with you?"

Yep, its either mouth or face.

In leafy Bucks it would be placed in a statement thus : "Gerroff, or I'll smack you in the mush!"

Or if someone was dicussing the viscosity of a substance, I would go with a porridge analogy.

mush! is what you say to a team of huskies to get them going across the snow.

Not sure, all I know is that meatballs are nothing but mush after they've rolled off the table and on to the floor, and then the poor meatballs, have rolled out of the door... :-)

Apart from that, have also heard mush in the same context as southerngirl says.

Grunty thanks for that information on the derivation of wotcha. I always wondered where it came from. Being the sad person I am, I am always fascinated by little gems like this - I might put that in my next quiz night as a teaser!

By the way, no-one has mentioned the pronounciation of mush - the mush to which I refer is "Moosh" rather than "Muhsh" .

I used to live in a small town in Hampshire where live a large number of Gypsy's. These words are used a lot by them. As far as i know mush (pronounced like push) can mean a person as previously described, or a face, but i don't think Gypsy's use it in that way. The word for mouth is mooey. e.g. 'Watch it mush or i'll slap you upside the mooey' . Please note that no racial prejudice is intended.

It is what we do to peas!

A mush is meal, especially cornmeal, boiled in water or milk until thick; anything pulpy; sloppy sentimentality; rubbish; background noise from a wireless receiver; or an umbrella.

A mushmouth is a person who slurs or mumbles in speaking.

To mush is to travel with dogs over snow, or a command to dogs to start moving faster, as jno says, (probably from the French marcher - to walk).

You take your choice!

Up t'north mush is a slang name for your mouth - you got food on your mush. Don't know why or where it started though

'Oi mush' is a cockney way of getting someone's attention.

Delboy often calls people 'mush'.

'Shut yer mush' is another cockney phrase meaning 'please close your mouth my good fellow'.

Just remembered, Rodney sings in the opening song on Only Fools and Horses 'from a mush in Shepherds Bush'

Sorry, my mistake, its the closing song:

We've got some half price cracked ice and miles and miles of carpet tiles,
T.V.s, deep freeze and David Bowie L.P.s,
Ball games, gold chains, whatsnames, pictures frames and leather goods,
And Trevor Francis track suits from a mush in Shepherds Bush,

Bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, bush ...

No income tax, no V.A.T.,
No money back, no guarantee,
Black or white, rich or poor,
We'll cut prices at a stroke......

God bless Hooky Street,
Viva Hooky Street,
Long live Hooky Street,
C'est magnifique, Hooky Street,
Magnifique, Hooky Street,

It's a type of room.
