What would be the proper word to use for a woman in charge of an orphanage in the nineteenth century? Matron, proprietress - or what? Thanks! I may not be on the computer for a couple of days, but I'll thank y'all later.

Oh jno, you were busy at the office last night! About that: Nope, the Northern Lights were already out when we 'met' yesterday. (Or rather, I've never seen them, I'm in Stockholm, not far north enough.) Hour-wise we're one hour ahead of you, at least at this time of year when we have Daylight Saving Time. So your ten o'clock in the evening was eleven for me. Anyways, the matron-site looks trustworthy; I'll go with that then!
