What is the difference between 'object of chess' and objective of chess'?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.In some sense, there really is no difference. One could say either: "The object - or the objective - of chess is to force checkmate on your opponent." Either word can mean "the aim/target/hoped-for result".
On the other hand, checkmate is always the 'objective' of chess, but you could say one of the 'objects' of chess is enjoyment or mental stimulation or whatever.
