What is the difference between and epidemic and a pandemic?

epidemic; affecting a community at a certain time: prevalent. a disease that attacks great numbers in one place, at one time & itself travels from from place to place; a wide spread outbreak. pandemic; over a wider area, affecting even more people than a community. eg. Foot & mouth disease was epidemic in a county, now it is pandemic across the country.
