In the rhyming slang Brahms and Listz, I think I understand why Listz, but why Brahms?

Brahms cos he was also a composer. In "apples & pears" =stairs the question is not "why apples". In cockney rhyming slang the rhyme is nearly always longer than the original word; "frog & toad" = road. whistle & flute = suit.
