What is the local term in your area for the annoying kids who hang around outside McDonalds, wearing massive hoop earrings, Kappa tracksuits and Reebok Classic trainers? In mine, they are pikeys, or Chavs, and at Uni they are called Kevs. Any other offerings? (PS no offence meant to anybody with this, but they are annoying!)

Kappa Slappa's is a common term 'round my way
'Neds' round here (Aberdeen). I've also heard 'Chavas' - (from a Geordie) which is similar to Chavs.
Ah, the 'Ben Shermans'. Also used to describe men in early 20's who wear Ralph Lauren shirts with Reebok Classics and drink in 'Edward's'
Do you want to know what we call people who are "at Uni"? ;-)

Ive heard most of them Mike, and tend to agree, but I am not one of those people who 'study' Media Studies, geography, psycology or Illustration. I do a proper degree!
Here in north Kent it's Chavs..
Scousers
staines boys, or twats
Do as you likeys (pikeys) or tinkers (irish travellers) - I generally just call them pathetic! :)
In Manchester we call them Scallys, i found a list of all of them somewhere...er... http://www.scallycentral.com Its under all the pics on the homepage. (I think these are the people youre describing)

A Scottish term is "neds". I refer to them as PWT.
In Belfast the boys are known as 'spides' and the girls, 'millies'.
Charvas up north-east!
Oi Stav!!! What makes u think psycholgy isnt a proper degree???
We call the ones who hang around mcdonalds 'Maccy Pri**s*

Well, Im sorry Tizzy, but from my experiences of mates at Uni doing Psychology, and the other 'subjects' listed, they dont seem to be the most taxing, lecture intensive degrees ever invented! I feel I must add Sport Science to my previous list also!!
Guess it depends on the uni ... the lectures are intensive at my uni ... altho i do agree that most of the work is left out because a lot of reading is involved in your own spare time because they cant fit it all in the lectures .... maybe its because in maths and science they say 'this is the theory' and u apply it ... but in psychology there are so many theories and they can never be proved or disproved
Also known as "steeks" in belfast. they buy corsas and novas and stick bits on here there and everywhere to soup them up and outdo each other
