In the 1960's there was a TV version which starred theScottish actor Roddy MacMillan in one of the roles.
The last version that I saw had Kenneth Cranham as one of the characters.

Hi Cucuhullan. Yes you are right. It was Kenneth Cranham and Colin Blakely, 1986 on BBC2. I would love to get hold of a copy.
