Our families are so far away, we are looking at sending homeade chirstmas cards with a picture of our family, but we want to have a "saying" that is sincere but not serious, can you help?

you could always do an adapted version of 'From our house to yours' - you know what will make your families smile.
Someone once signed my autograph book with 'love and best', which I thought was really nice. Also, his mate signed it with "Sex & Drugs & Rock'n'Roll", but that might not be appropriate. ;-)

You could always use something like "Happy Christmas from the gang/mob/crew/tribe etc.
how about having your photo and greeting made into a jigsaw puzzle its a good present if your family like that sort of thing and you can have a greeting put on it too its done dead easy on line at bonus print
I usually use one of the greetings from the cards Laurel & Hardy were trying to sell in 'The Fixer Uppers' :

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Coming through the rye
I wish you a Merry Christmas, Even as you and I

or:

Merry Christmas (husband)
Happy New Year's nigh
I wish you Easter Greetings
Hurray for the Fourth of July!
