So, they got together in a small wood in Rutland, and plotted to overthrow the owners of every estate in England by covering their castles in pheasant doo. Unfortunately, being rather stupid, having decided this they flew out of the wood at the same time, making one huge, even-Andy-Cole-couldn't-possibly-miss target, and were all (but one) shot dead by Lord Simon de Beavoir. One did survive to tell the tale, but was thereafter executed on a small spit roast outside the Tower of London and eaten with a small salad, thus inventing the kebab.
The pheasants revolt actually took place in December 2000. They were revolting about the John Lewis store's involvement in pheasant shooting. Here is a link to news reports from the time.

Of course he has an edition of ' 1066 and All That' by Sellars and Yeatman, the celebrated book of English history; a book of 'all the history that you can remember' so with only two dates and very confused 'facts'. He obviously missed the publisher's note which says "for 'pheasants' read 'peasants' throughout". Easy mistake to make. ( Book is amusing too ).
