what are the most irritating middle management sayings? It's quite old now but "Touch base" used to make me cringe, the latest one round here though is "Brown bag meeting"!

OK It's Friday and I'm bored!

"there's no 'I' in team"

I so often was tempted to say "Maybe not, but there's a 'me'"- I never had the guts though :-(
'Low Hanging Fruit' - easy targets
Someone told me about the 'elephant in the room' phrase used in meetings. Could anyone explain?
"Elephant in the room" refers to a situation or problem that is obvious (as an elephant in the would be hard to miss) but is ignored or avoided rather than addressed.

This may explain why Brenda The Elephant is often ignored when she goes out....
We had something or other that said sometimes ideas had to be "FRIDGED" (we think it meant the ideas had to be thought about at another time.)
Come on then, tell us - what's a brown bag meeting?
A 'Brown Bag Meeting' is just another saying for 'Informal Meeting' Count_Emmup.

If anyone asked me for a 'BallPark figure' at work, my reply would always be, "I don't know about a BallPark figure, but I can give you an estimate"!
There was a saying in our office; "dont waste your time with a tyre-kicker", i.e. a customer who wont really buy. I used to like that though!
Every day I hear managers use the word "functionality", as in, "This will allow us to fully adopt Chip & PIN functionality". It isn't a word you Muppets!!!!
A brown bag meeting is where you bring your lunch in a brown paper bag - so yes, informal. Of US origin where such bags are commoner than here - and virtually mandatory if you want to carry alcohol anywhere.
The one I hate is 'year on year' whatever happened to 'after'?
Is there anyobdy out there who can take seriously someone who talks about "paradigm shifts"?
Has anyone noticed there are no problems anymore, just issues?
And has anyone else felt the urge to smack a manager in the gob when he talks about "rightsizing" the company?
You're obviously not on the bus. Get under the umbrella and we'll have a brown bag meeting. You'll need to think outside the box though - no room for limp dicks. This department has a monkey on its back, we need to touch base to find the low hanging fruit.
