Before mobile phones cb radios were used for communication, particularly on the road. They were not secure and anyone with a cb radio could listen in to the conversation. So a coded language came about. In the 70s a song called Convoy was in the charts about a group of lorries travelling together in the USA and terms like "bear in the air" for police helicopter were used. Drivers used the radios to chat to others and to warn them of police activity e.g. speed traps etc. Hope that helps.
hi there
thay call it Lingo ,
they also use the phonetic alphabet , like Alpha beta , charlie , delta etc , this ois used to convey a word or message easier when conditions are bad

they also use a code the 10 code , like 10/10
10/4 etc .. these are international abberviations for certain
words or questions or answers to questions.

example , 10/4 means yes afirmitive
or 10/10 meand good bye
rodger rodge , means all understood
like going back to the fiterpiolets dayswhen you heard then rodger wilco and out . it bascally mean all understood
and good bye ..

cb's also use a CODE called the Q-code
again this is a international code of questions and answers, things like qrz , qsl , qra , qsb , qrn , qrm
are often heared .

they mean things like whats your location?,
all understood, very noise due to man made noise
whats your locations etc ..

again like all the codes used , they are mainly used
to convery informatioin to someone when conditions
are bad or via when using cw, morse code
its easier and quicker to send qra qrz etc then to type a ful sentence out ..

hope this information helps
