Grainy picture on tonights Wire in the blood episode

Hi is it just me but was tonights episode of wire in the blood all washed out and grainy. I might be missing the point but maybe this was intentional to fit in with the story line. ?

Yeah, it was quite washed out, I was watching it in my bedroom where the reception isn't that great so I spent the first half hour fiddling with the aerial wondering where the colour had gone before I realised it was meant to be like that! I think it was intentional, maybe to try and make it feel creepier and more sinister or something? I don't reall know.

Can anyone tell me what happened towards the end just after when her son has been found and robson green and the female cop are talking in the kitchen? I recorded it but the tape ran out at this point.
