Hello, I have no idea what section to post this question in so I put it in the most popular. Does anyone know how to say Grandad in Welsh? Ive tried Google and Ask but I feel like Ive hit a brick wall. Please help if you can. Many thanks, Rachel.
Thank you so much raysparx1. My grandad was Welsh and I nursed him when he had cancer, sadly he died but Im having a new tattoo and along with my two childrens names I want to have grandad written in Welsh. Thank you so much. Rachel, x
Hi Rachel, Just phoned him and he said that is the right way to spell it, I was pretty sure, cos I knew how it was pronounced, look a bit silly if it meant bacon sarnie wouldn't it, good luck, hope it looks great, Ray xx
I really should learn the language I have lived there long enough.
Welsh spoken in the north of Wales is not identical to that of the south. Although the 'core' language transcends geography there are what are best described as dialects which divide the country north and south, much as 'Geordie' English is different to 'West Country' English.
As pointed out by pingping, Mamgu & Tadcu (with or without hyphen) is prevalent in south Wales, Nain & Taid in the north.
