Maybe the odd chav's alright underneath, but they don't know any better. I think originally, they dressed in their fake designer gear to try and copy their "heroes". ANYONE who wears designer clothes and lots of jewellery is really making a statement - Look At Me!
Like In A Pickle says, we don't get many chavs round where I live, thank goodness - you're more likely to see folk in jackets and wellies! x

Bless!!!!! Well I guess HoF's better than on the weekly from a catalogue!
Not so sure as you'd like the "wellie brigade" either, Pasta. Everyone thinks we're snobs, 'cos there are a lot of 4x4's driven around here - usually by the tweedy set - but blimey - snobs? In wellies caked with horse sh@t??? I don't think so.

I know some of the welly brigade because of where i live (well Queenie and her crew are just 30 miles up the road and they actually do come into our town being the nearest -just to be part of the hoi pollioi ) iand believe me -they in the main are far more decadent and outrageous than the 'main stream' -have witnessed but have not partaken -at first hand. They have people who look after them.
Its quite sickening that people perceive there is a class divide where in essence there isnt one -its all down to money -however way you come upon it.

Dris - I truly agree with you, and there's no need to explain about queenies lot - I KNOW! Seriously know.
Have a friend who's grandmother worked at Sandringham, and she said the nicest of the lot was Princess Di, who took the trouble to dob into their house one day for a cuppa. She said she was bored with the holiday - and then proceded to put the kettle on herself. The old couple sat there open-mouthed, not daring to jump up and do it for her, and they said she was just an ordinary, pleasant girl. Of course, some of the others are more decadent than anyone'd believe, but I don't think any human being's perfect. x
