I have been browsing around the site and the one thing that sticks out, is the appalling standard of grammar and punctuation. Some threads are virtually impossible to understand and lack the very basics of the English language, does no one own a dictionary? As a newcomer, I would not wish to insult anyone, but I think my feelings on this matter should be known now, rather than later.

Sorry controvert but I am being pedantic here. There should not have been a comma after "sticks out" in your post. (Nor after "newcomer" either). Over punctuation is as bad an error as under punctuation .

errr grammar and punctuation is two things , init?
oh don't be punctilious (or setentious, pedagogic, abstruse) controvert....

whislt grammar can be appaling...as long as everyone has a good chat does it really matter?

After all being able to have a good conversation, (in "real-time" / face-to-face) doesn't depend of good grammar but more on good communication skills.

PS - WELCOME to the site anyway! :-)
I agree with evedawn - if you're having a good discussion what does the grammar matter?
It matters a LOT, a bit of a lot. What is the point if you can't spel properly ?
you lot...this has got to be a wind up
yup weeal -maybe ur right
Of course it is weeal but there are days when I would argue with myself for the sake of it!
....and nothing leads to good conversations otherr than a bit of "controvery" or should that be a bit of "controvert" ? :-)
Right bensmum?
I
lol bensmum

just get the punctuation right then hahaha
IMO, this greeny tried to register as controvertial but ran out of letters.........or they didn't and have just the most annoying name.
Methinks controvert is being controversial.

Thank you for your responses, it seems a lot of you couldn't care less, what a sad state of affairs.

I am not used to taking part in incoherent conversations.
You have 2 options, stick around or clear off.

I will help you if you decide to stay, I am also fed up to the gills with people who can't spel properly.
