Self subsistence? Meaning

Hiya can someone please explain to me what
'Self - subsistence'
means! Please

Also I don't like to be known as a cheeky pain the butt, but in this case I am going to make an exception for myself (lol) and ask if someoe could possibly incorporate it into a sentence for me! I just find it easier this way (lol)

'Subsistence' means 'livelihood/means of supporting life'. The suggestion behind it is often that there is just enough to support the person/people under discussion. I'm not really sure why you would attach the word 'self' to it at all, unless for example you wished to say that a farmer earned enough to feed himself but not to support his family. He, then, might conceivably say, "My work in the fields is sufficient only for self-subsistence."

I came across it because a family member was on some dictionary site (i think) and it was one of those words I just couldn't place in a sentence which drives me crazy!!!

The more usual word, Sparkler/Wonderwise, is almost certainly 'self-sufficiency'. This is used to refer to a person, family or group who occupy a piece of land and there they grow and farm virtually everything they require to support themselves. I am thinking of the Amish people in America, for example, who try to live lives quite separate from surrounding communities.
A British TV series called The Good Life showed a couple who gave up their 'normal' jobs and tried to produce everything they needed in their garden in a London suburb! They probably considered themselves to be a 'self-subsistence' or 'self-sufficient' family.
