The notion of buying warts from a sufferer is an old superstition. For a couple of references, click here and read the parts which open "This one I heard..." and "But by far..."
Hmmm. Surprising how often 'wart charming' seems to work. It's not unknown for doctors to recommend it to their patients!.
But Oneill, you might be interested in this.
I had a wart on my knee when I was a child and was quite upset about it ( I was seven or so) and my mum 'bought it 'off me for a small amount of money. And it DID go away!!
so I believe in the buying of warts.
:-)
i heard my granny tell me that one amongst many other charms,eg cut a potato in half rub it on the wart and throw it over your shoulder but dont look back
I think it has been established that all wart cures work provided only that the sufferer believes they will. It would appear that our immune systems can reject this particular infection but require a degree of 'focus'. It's a sort of visualisation technique. The problem is it works best for people who don't know the secret.
