Why can't some people on AB make their point, comment or argument without resorting to contrived swear words, going to the trouble of substituting letters for numbers, leaving gaps and other ways of avoid the automatic censor?
Do they swear so much when they are talking? Do people really say 'Oh, My God!' or FFS as often as they use it here?
Do they talk like that no matter whom they are addressing?
There are far more effective ways of communicating your point than resorting to bad language.
lol mine tends to be if annoyed and talking to friends (i class a few on answerbank as friends) so it may just happen in heat of moment, but its pretty rare.
Ice, would you say, for example, "Oh, my god!!! It's dinner time' as many people seem to start nearly every sentence with it, even the most innocuous and unremarkable statements.
Or if they are told something totally boring, 'I had pork chops for tea', the response is, 'Oh, my god!!!'
Can't really answer that Ethel, as I don't analyse everything I say, so if it comes out, it does. I don't think I'd mention the word "god" in front of my mother though. She's quite religious, and wouldn't like to hear it, so I'd be careful and respect that.
Ooooooh Ethel.....u should have been at a recent WI meeting when one of the amnesiac members said ".....am having a 'senior moment'! She was jumped on by others and told to say she was having a 'craft' moment.
To answer your question Ethel yes I would swear at my bank manager if i had the opportunity to come face to face with it,
As for check out personell yes I have sworn at those also, especially when they continue talking for minutes on end to the previous customer, who has already paid and therefore should be gone.
also when said checkout person lets you put all your shopping on the conveyor belt, then calmly and smuggly says, sorry this checkout is closing. GRRRRR.
