Sort Of

Why do people say," I sort of went shopping" or "I was sort of walking down the street" AAGGHH.

Probably because they 'sort of' can't make up their minds whether they are coming or going!

Well said Smudge. You cann't 'sort of' do anything..you either do or don't. Its the same as those who say 'kinda' or 'kind of'. eg I kinda washed the baby We sort of crashed the car I sorta lost the keys He kind of burnt the toast They sort of got married Well did they or not!!!

You know what infuriates me? On a recent trip to USA a girl said to me, "she was like a swimmer". I asked her if she paddled and got a puzzled look. Well, was she a swimmer or not?
