I think hello is gia sas if you wish to be polite/respectful to the person you are addressing, or gia sou if you wish to be informal/familiar with them. Can't think of goodbye at the moment. Another way of greeting people when you meet them is to wish them good afternoon/evening/night - kalimera, kalispera, kalinikta (apologies for my atrocious transcript).
Wow this is cool I am half greek! Gia sou is hello, (said Ya soo) and it can also mean goodbye. Like in Hawaii or whatever Aloha is both. Im rambling
