I know this pronouncement appears in the bible - but who said it, where can you find it?

It's not in my Biblical Concordance and several websites attribute it to St Augustine. http://www.whosoever.org/v6i6/chris.html has this: ...... recently stated that "you can't love the sinner and hate the sin." Yet many claim today to do just that. This oft-quoted statement does not in fact originate from the Bible as some may believe, but instead it apparently comes from a letter that St. Augustine wrote to some contentious nuns. Augustine's phrase, "*** dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum," "with love of persons and hatred of sins," is used parenthetically, and does not even mention "sinners."
I was surprised that the AnswerBank Bowdler would edit the words of St Augustine. But if you follow the link you will see why. Lol!

Cheers Marsh, v.helpful! That is hilarious that they've edited it! I doubt St.Augustine was implying anything there! Lol
