Spelling.. (please help)

I'm trying to word an Ad for Home Tuition, but to me the word "Tuition " just looks wrong, all the web pages I have tried say I'm correct, but they are American sites, so it could be an American spelling?

As I say the word just looks wrong to me, please help me out its annoying me ..thanks.

Your 'Tuition' is correct if you are looking for "teaching or instruction"

As the first two answers say, Tuition is the correct spelling doomey.

Now, now Doc, haven't you ever typed a word that doesn't look right, but in fact is? Doesn't mean to say he/she doesn't understand basic English! ;o}

That is probably an American site actually but I agree with docspock.

One way to find the correct spelling of a word is to go into Google search and pretend to search for the word.

If Google does not recognize the word it offers the best alternative.

I often do this if I want to do a quick check for the spelling of a word.

For example if you put Tution (missing out the first "i") into Google search it offers you the word Tuition.

As a purely pedantic aside, if, what you're offering, is to instruct students on an individual basis in your home, here in the U.S. tuition would refer to the fee you intend to charge for your services. As doc instructs, tutoring is the most applicable to the actual service itself...

as VHGsays but you can also do a Google search for "define:tuition" (you don't need the quote marks) , which will take you to a collection of dictionary definitions.
