I'm a bog standard guitarist with a bog standard guitar, but I'd like a good capo (but not too expensive). I've got one of these "universal" nut and slot capos but it doesn't allow the strings to 'ring' and there are so many capos about and they're usually in plastic sealed boxes or similar that shop assistants get a bit iffy if you ask to see the capo out of its covering - oh yeah, I've got a flat fretboard. Hi Tamborine, me too a strummer and fingerpicker and the capo I have is a metal one and I do put it right behind the fret...but it still doesn't sound right - perhaps I need another guitar...yeah, right. Ta Muchly for your answer
..and would highly recommend it. You can finely adjust the tension with which the neck is clamped. You don't have to position it just behind the fret to get a perfect sound either.
Hi Ludwig, that sounds great too. Can you give me details of the Shubb you use (model number etc)...I can't access the link from the site here. Ta Muchly.
Thanks for that info Ludwig...I still can't access your link, nor anyone's, so I'll have a look on amazon, the same too for the other capos mentioned by the other guys. Ta Muchly.
