I still use imperial measurement, cant be done with the metric system ,hate it when you go into shops and you will ask for something and they say what size and i say its so many feet and inches, and they look at me as if i am from the planet zog, what your preference??
I was taught metric at school but parents use imperial more so have been 'brought up' on imperial so I prefer imperial for most things but understand very small measurements of length in millimeteres as opposed to frations of inches. But I'm going to have to teach in metric which is worrying because I'm rubbish at estimating eg, distances in km!
I was brought up with Imperial round about the year dot with rods chains poles and furlongs :).
I can grasp metres (measurement ) because it's just over a yard .But I cannot for the life of me picture how many kilometres there are in a mile .If someone says it's two miles down the road I can visualise it but I cannot visualise two kilometres.
My lot measure everything in metric they were brought up with it ( at school ) and Mr.S can't handle Imperial measure either .Recipes drive me silly . I want 8ozs of flour not 500gms ..Lol..
It's the same with the currency .My old Mum used to reckon it all up and then convert it back to Lsd ...I can remember her saying to me years ago when I bought her a cream cake .It was 30p .."Six shillings for a cake ? They must have seen you coming " :))
I cant fathom metric for the life of me-if at the deli I just now ask for 4 slices of whatever I want -looks like old habits die hard.We will not be moved !!!
