Hi,

Just wondered if anyone could help? I'm trying to find the BSL sign for the word naughty. It's for a friends hen night as she's hard of hearning and I want it to be a surprise so I can't ask her!

I've tried searching on google, msn and yahoo and none of the dictionaries i've found have had this word.

Fingers crossed.

Found this but you have to sign up to use their dictionary. If all else fails you could use the finger spelling alphabet. Probably not what you wanted but it might be fun if you turn it into a whole little choreography thing...?
(Oh... that sign dictionary site seems to be devoted to different professions... so will you find the word naughty in it I wonder... the mind boggles!)

Go here http://www.mobilesign.org/ and type in the word
My wife has just looked it up for you.

Hold your left hand in front of your body, palm down and fingers pointing to your right hand side.

Right hand, fingers together and pointing to your left hand side (fingers may be curved a bit). Tap the back of your left hand twice with the fingers of your right hand.

Think of giving someone a light smack on the back of their hand for being naughty and you'll have the idea. Oh yes, that sign works for naughty as in "naughty child" and in the sense of being a wee bit rude :-)
That is as was shown on the site I gave, you get a wee video to show the sign.
Yes TCL, I know. It did take a wee while for my wife to dig out the dictionary and look it up ... and I'd left the question up with no replies showing while she did so, and didn't check before answering.
I know next to nothing about BSL but I do know there are dialects in signing so I was just meaning that seems to be the accepted BSL sign as you described.

It'll be much appreceated!
I don't have a visual example but you take your little finger on your right hand and place it in front of your face with a disapproving look if that helps?
