My friend often uses the word n00b. She says it is pronounced n-o-b. Surely it should be pronounced n-o-o-b? Any thoughts? Plus any comp junkies to tell me the usage of this term *friend avid html-er - me thinks its connected?*?

Thanking You!

It's short for 'Noobie' as in 'Newbie' and is a derogatory term for a new user of some geeky IT thingy or other. If this is your first post, the people who have been using this site for a while might ridicule you for asking a question which to them is obvious, or for not understanding the culture of the site. It's snobbery, basically.

Anyway, since it's short for 'Newbie' I'd be surprised if it shouldn't be pronounced to rhyme with the well known slang for breasts.

Surely a newbie would be abbreviated to "newb", not "noob"?
not if you come from Suffolk bernado.  Where I come from we have compooters.
n00b, rhyming with tube, is used to describe someone who chatspeaks, spams or is generally annoying. Newb is short for Newbie, a new person. HTML is Hyper Text Markup Language, the code often used in webdesign.
Plz forgive me but when we are on the subject what does LoL means

N00B is used in the games Americas Army and Joint Operations, its usually pointed at people who are new to the game or at someone who is constantly killing himself or other team members
