Hi can someone give me advice as tried to ring orange and not been funny but they havent a clue.My pc wich is a fresh build to high standars runs on windows 7 ultimate,Did 2 speedtests afternoon and night, afternoon was 2mb download 0.4 upload afternoon, night was 5.3mb down and 0,4 upload night.... I have been with orange ever since the freeserve days on dial up and now have broadband wich orange supplied me with a siemens router,I have a belkin g pci wireless card in the tower but just lately it has been getting a bad signal only between 2 to 3 bars show and has been losseing connection a fair bit and really running slow....Is there something i can do to get this up and going to what it used to be as has always been lot better then this......Or is orange just going to the dogs...Have tried to ring them but they not interested they just say everything is working ok there end....The router goes direct to main bt socket and it is only downstairs and pc is just upstairs so should very easily pick signal up.....Any help at all would be fantastic please...As i just dont get why it so slow all of a sudden....Been like it month or so now and never gets above 3 signal bars...I have tried turning router of at mains waiting 10 mins and back on again but that dont seem to help..At min it running ok but still only 3 bars

If you choose to connect to the router via wifi, that's entirely out of their control. You could try repositioning the aerial of the router and/or the wireless card in your PC. Some routers (my Linksys, for example) allow you increase the output power from within the configuration screen. You might also try changing the wireless channel of the router, as you may be suffering interference from another nearby radio source (such as your neighbour's router).
i can do this wired but it would mean me bringing my router upstairs wich means i have to then use the bt socket upstairs instead of the master one downstairs will that matter, then i can rig the home pc up wired...also the siemens i found out is a grade g so would it help to get a grade n. and maybe try a grade n pci card or usb network adator..or use grade n adator and keep grade g router, sorry im not clued up on routers at all just what i been told...not sure what u mean by am i on adsl faceplate...im on a bt line if that helps...please answer back thanks
I think also its running slow because the signal isnt strong enough for some reason wich is weird seeing as its downstairs wich is only matter of metres away and no solid walls etc are in way very strange....I did try bringing router upstairs and it was deffo lot better signal..but it was rigged to upstairs bt socket and not the master one wich is downstairs ...so thought i better take it back down as not sure if it ok to leave on one up here...If it is ok do i just need to use 1 filter the same from upstairs socket or do i need one down also from master.....this router thing is very odd to me...To say i build my own pcs i cant believe im so stummped on a router lol..keep answering im sure ill get right soon..and thanks to all replys so far
