After a campaign based on supposed integrity, Nick Clegg failed to nail his colours to the mast ...

... and negotiated with both sides.

Indecisive ... or just a complete snake ?

Now Brown has p!ssed off ... Cameron should tell Clegg to p!ss off too, and form a minority Govt.

If the LibDems only contribution to the next Parliament is to cause trouble, the Liberals will be finished for ever.

He wasn't third by a long way if you look at the actual votes,rather than seats.He got a quarter of the votes. A balanced parliament is a much fairer system and there is nothing wrong with dealing with different parties in order to form the best government.Hopefully we will now get a fairer voting system where every vote counts in a prper democracy!

if people voted for them then yes.Don't you believe in each vote counts? At the moment where I live my vote is wasted,it would be more democratic if it counted-.Unless you have a 2 party system our way of voting is totally unfair.

Nope. Why would I ?

Take the BNP ...

No area in the country wants to be represented by them.

But they could aggregate the votes of a few loonies from each area, and claim some seats.

They would have to make sure they put up a candidate in every single constituency, so they could get lots of votes to add together.

Then they would claim 1.9% of BBC air time, to help spread their message.

The 1.9% would certainly grow.

Actually, I can see why extremists are so in favour of every vote counting !

If you do not believe in a democracy,then ok,that's your choice.The voting system now means that you have got something that you didn't want,what do you want? People that don't agree have to work with each other,that's a fact of life and politicians are supposed to be working for us.Surely most of us don't agree blindly with every single policy that the party we voted for stands for.If Cameron,as you say,formed a minority goverment then he'd be outvoted in the first month and we'd have another election. The same is going to happen again,surely.Especially with no change of voting system.
Even extremists have a right to vote and a right to stand for government.You have no faith in the british public (neither do I really) if you think that the 1.9% BNP time would certainly grow!
Let's concentrate on working together instead of constant bickering and bitching about personalities,and support our balanced parliament,as in a lot of other countries,
that can make coalitions (and PR) work.

If he hadn't negotiated with both sides the Conservatives would have thought they had him, and his party, in their pocket.
The fact that the LIb-Dems were also talking with Labour meant that Cameron would go that little bit further to secure his support. Good politicking, I'd say.

And I agree with sandyroe.We know that he disagrees with some of the tories and the labour policies but what is wrong with negotiating with everyone.Seeing as he got a quarter of the votes in this country I think he is entitled to have a say and to choose the best goverment that will allow him to have it.he was being quite fair in allowing the labour party to make their offer after the tories were obviously not compromising on certain issues.
