Hello,

It is the OH's birthday soon and he is a keen war plane enthusiast - not really my thing. I was wondering if anyone knows of a website that offers a war plane flight experience?

I have googled the usual suspects but can only find a Tiger Moth which isn't really what I am looking for. I don't know which plane is his favourite but I am pretty sure he would love any old plane from war that has history (all). I have tried googling war plane experiences, but having a limited knowledge of war planes I can't really advance search.

Can anyone suggest a website that offers this type of experience?

Thanks GF

I would be surprised if you managed to get a flight in a warplane. The ones that are in existence are so rare they wouldn`t use them for pleasure flights. There are vintage aircraft flights around but the nearest you would get to a warplane is in a museum.

Thanks 237SJ, But which vintage planes are being used and where would I book such a thing. The only one I have seen is a Tiger Moth. Thanks.
If you google vintage aircraft flights you`ll find something. I don`t know where you live but Duxford is one such place. Good luck
We looked into a Spitfire flight for my grandad for his birthday but it was impossible to find one and so went for the Tiger Moth; on speaking to the pilot it emerged that it is possible to fly in a Spitfire but is very, very, very expensive!
I clambered over a Lancaster bomber once but we didn`t take off. It was cramped and must have been extremely scary to have operated in one. The rear gunner sat in a sort of leither sling-seat with his head in a bubble like a sitting duck. I climbed into the nose-cone at the front which was just a glass bubble.
sorry, meant `leather`
Could try this, but it may be rather dangerous: http://tinyurl.com/3achdqd

There's a company in Duxford Cambs which offers Tiger Moth flights as well as De Havilland Rapide flights over London I think. At Coventry Airport Classic Flight does De Havilland Rapide flights and they also do a tour round the country but the season for that is now probably over. Do a search for Classic Flight Airbase Coventry and you might get next year's details. Certainly no commercial warplanes offer flights in UK. Probably Health Safety!
