In Ear Monitor Set Up??

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction??

I am a recording and live vocalist. I was wondering what brand of in ear monitors are the best? I know I need a receiver pack but do I need the transmitter too or does the venue sort that out?

I haven't a clue about IEM's because until recently house monitors have been fine but because we are starting to play bigger venues I need the extra help. The old ears aren't what they used to be.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out with this small problem.

Cheers

I'd guess a decent in-house setup would have IEM transmitters with tunable frequencies, meaning you'd only need a receiver with tunable frequencies.

It honestly depends on the equipment and how much you/they paid for it.

Might be worth investing in a rx/tx setup so at least you have it all handy if you need it.

If the venue has the equipment already, you can just buy your own ear-buds (which, I suppose, they should really have) to fit on their IEM.
You need to have considerable trust in your sound guy, who has the power to seriously damage your hearing permanently.

Unless you are at a level where you employ your own engineer - and you are relying on venue sound, I'd steer clear of 'in-ears' - too riskly.
