The Price Of Bass And Mullet?

Talking to a fisherman in the pub last night and he is offering fish straight off the boat at Bass £4.50lb (whole fish as caught) and Mullet (filleted) £2.00 per fish.

Does this sound like a good buy?

Sounds to me like a very good buy - would be more pricey in supermarket plus the huge bonus that fish really fresh. Wish i lived by the sea.

I saw some cod loins for £30-00/kg in the supermarket last week...strewth. BTW, whereabouts on a cod are its loins?

His boat comes in this afternoon I believe, I will catch him before the local scrumpy does! if he isnt out fishing he is in the local, pouring copious amounts of this bright orange apple juice down his neck. Mind you it is bloody nice scrumpy!!!

As the fish is a part of my healthy eating/diet plan could anybody recommend a suitable sauce or dressing to go with it, I will also be taking it to work to eat cold.

Then make up a noodle salad with whatever veg you have in the fridge finely shredded.

You could make a spicy noodle soup and add shredded veg and flakes of fish too.

A jar of tartare sauce or make your own with low fat mayo and bits in e g chopped capers.
